CVE-2021-24370 concerned an unauthenticated file-upload flaw in the WordPress edition of Fancy Product Designer. Wordfence's June 2021 report described active exploitation and identified version 4.6.9 as the fix for that particular issue.

What made the upload boundary important#

An upload feature must not allow an untrusted file to become executable server code. In this incident, inadequate file validation could lead to remote code execution. The report is about a specific WordPress plugin vulnerability; it is not evidence that every product carrying a similar name or every platform edition shared the flaw.

Read the original Wordfence advisory for the historical disclosure, and the current vulnerability listing when checking later issues. Version 4.6.9 is a historical fix point, not a present-day recommendation to install that version.

Patching and incident response are different jobs#

Updating prevents exploitation of a fixed flaw; it does not prove that a previously compromised site is clean. An administrator investigating a suspected incident should preserve evidence, review unexpected executable files and restore from a verified clean source where necessary.

A short IP blocklist or a handful of filenames cannot establish that a site is clean. Defensive upload design also belongs alongside careful web-server configuration.
